One specific example of student success I have is with a student that was struggling in my class. Throughout the year, this particular student was not doing so well in the class. Our final Endangered species iMovie was tough for him to complete, but with some one on one help and resources provided, he was able to create a wonderful final presentation.

Revisiting my professional growth goal, for the year 2021-2022 school year, my long-term goal is to communicate with parents more and to focus on accommodating my English Language Learners. I believe I was able to accomplish my goal by communicating more with my parents through email and google classroom. I was also able to effectively find resources that are geared toward accommodating English Language students. During my lessons planning, I make sure to create material that is going to introduce all students to the content in an efficient way. I have student translators and I am in close contact with the ELL aide to fully accommodate all students. One of my biggest strengths is that students are engaged in problem-solving, critical thinking, and other activities that make subject matter meaningful. I relate all my lessons to real life situations which helps students connect the concept to their lives and the reasons why it is so beneficial. I believe this is a very important part of teaching because students retain the information they are using everyday. Throughout my teachings, I know that planning and designing learning for all students is going to be an opportunity for continuous learning. I believe throughout each lesson, I find more things I want to incorporate for the next lesson. With each new year, new technologies emerge and new resources that I know will work to approach all students. I feel like this is the thing that I changed most and what I'm most proud of. I know that all students learn differently and this has really challenged me to reach all students. Every lesson is a new lesson to create an array of resources for.
Hello my name is Sabrina Barrera and I am a worker bee. Throughout my life, my parents always instilled hard work and strong dedication in whatever I decided to do. After working with mentally disabled in college and continuing my tutoring volunteer work from high school, I knew I wanted to help students in my community find better and higher education. I attended community college and after transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara. After I graduated with my B.S. in Biology, I started working at a high school teaching Freshman Integrated Science and Sophomore Biology. While working I always loved staying active so I became the Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball JV head coach. As I enter my third year of teaching, I have been offered a position to be the Sophomore class advisor to lead them in their future leadership endeavors.
According to my ITL 528 Personality Quiz resource, I have a ESFJ personality type. The type means that I seek to build harmony in personal relationships, engender team spirit and am a encouragement to others. I like dealing with people and I appreciative and accepting to all people. I am very good at adapting to my environment which will help me in any work situation I am put in. I scored high in sensing perception which makes me a good analyzer and able to stay focused. I find any practical way to help others because I tend to consider others feelings before my own. In my many, this allows me to reach all students by creating a calm and supportive learning environment. Within my two years of teaching, I have gotten feedback from students stating that I make learning fun and understandable. I feel that because I am so young, students can relate to me more than other veteran educators which gives me a huge opportunity to teach and engage students. I hope to persuade students to reach higher education and teach them that anything is possible if they work hard and have a positive outlook.
